A Day in the Kitchen: How Your Dog's Food Gets Made
September 8, 2026 · The Wag & Willow Family
Every batch starts the same way
Early in the morning, before the kitchen fills with the smell of simmering stock, we pull out the day's ingredients — fresh, whole, and measured by hand.
The process
- Sourcing — We pick up fresh produce and proteins from local suppliers we've known for years.
- Prep — Everything is washed, chopped, and portioned by hand. No mystery machines.
- Cooking — Low and slow. We never rush a batch, because nutrition lives in the details.
- Cooling & packing — Each bowl is portioned, sealed, and labeled with the date it was made.
Why small batches matter
Big factories optimize for shelf life. We optimize for freshness. A small batch means we can watch every pot, taste every recipe, and catch anything that isn't perfect.
If we wouldn't serve it to our own dogs, it doesn't leave the kitchen.
It's slower. It's harder. But when you see your pup's tail wag at dinner time, you know exactly why we do it this way.
